Darrell is a construction and real estate executive with more than 28 years of experience building new business. He draws on considerable public/private partnership expertise – setting strategic direction and leading award-winning projects for local, regional, and national clients in both the public and private sectors. As a construction manager, Darrell is responsible for acquiring new work in education, government, and corporate facilities. He is also focused on tracking opportunities using design/build and other alternative delivery methods. Before joining Plant, Darrell spent 18 years with a nationally based general contractor where he managed a regional construction office in Sacramento. He spent the last 10 years developing and constructing projects for clients in the public sector and in education. Notable projects include Smith Ranch Homes, Stockton Event Center, San Joaquin Council of Governments HQ, Lathrop City Hall, Alder Creek Middle School, Cal EPA Headquarters, and California Teachers Association Regional HQ. Darrell served as a past board member for the YMCA and Catholic Youth Organization (CYO).

Mike Tzortzis

Mike has more than 20 years of experience working on both new construction projects and the renovation of existing buildings. His strength lies in managing complex projects with demanding schedules and dealing with the complexity of construction in occupied facilities. Mike maintains a strong focus on client needs with exceptional attention to detail and quality and excels in coordination and communication as a way of optimizing schedules. Prior to Plant, Mike worked with Woodward Clyde Consultants (now URS) as a geotechnical engineer. He also worked for an architectural office in Zurich, Switzerland, and for a construction management firm in Berlin, Germany. He managed residential developments in and around Berlin and is fluent in German. His experience successfully representing German, British, and American owners to construct projects on time and within budget was a proper warm-up to his current role at Plant where he works closely with owners and design teams to prepare for, analyze, budget, and then execute successful projects.

Paula Pritchard

Paula, a partner and construction manager at Plant, has over 25 years of construction experience building a variety of projects including new construction, high-rise residential, tenant interiors, and remodels of occupied spaces throughout the United States and Canada. She joined Plant after relocating to the Bay Area from Portland, Oregon, where she was a project manager in charge of construction of Nike’s NikeTown stores. During her time with the company, Paula has led construction teams in the delivery of large, complex renovation projects in San Francisco and Minneapolis, Minnesota. She brings deep technical and engineering skills to her projects in addition to strong leadership skills and an understanding of the client’s point-of-view and needs. Paula is a licensed civil engineer in the state of California and a LEED Accredited Professional.

Conrado Vellve

Conrado began his construction career as a carpenter and supervisor in New York and Boston. He joined Plant as an assistant project manager with 15 years of field experience under his belt and quickly progressed to project manager and then construction manager in 2005. He was ultimately named vice president in 2012. In his 20 years with Plant, Conrado has developed critical experience in complex renovations as manager of the $60 million, multi-phase restoration of San Francisco’s Fairmont Hotel. He has traveled frequently to manage Plant’s retail work in other states for clients such as Nordstrom and Prada. Favoring projects with challenging, problem-solving aspects, Conrado delivers excellence through complexity and has contributed to the success of innovative work including the LEED Platinum certified Lands End Lookout and the renovation and seismic stabilization of the historic landmark temple for Congregation Sherith Israel. Conrado plays a key role in the adoption of emerging construction technologies and the training of project managers resulting in enhanced, company-wide productivity and managerial depth. He serves on the Construction Coordination and Seismic Committees for Rebuilding Together San Francisco.

Jeff Gherardini

Jeff is a partner and construction manager responsible for business development and delivering success on the projects he procures. He is expert in seismic upgrades of historic structures, extensive renovation of hotels, and high-design retail work. Some notable renovation projects include the Walt Disney Family Museum, The Presidio Institute at Fort Scott, the adaptive reuse of Buildings 101 + 103 in the Presidio, and the ACT Strand Theater. Also amongst his successes are the Prada Beverly Hills, Bulgari San Francisco & Rodeo Drive, Four Seasons San Francisco, Palace Hotel, and numerous endeavors with Apple since 2013.

Prior to Plant, Jeff worked at a variety of architectural firms on the east and west coasts, and served in the Peace Corps in Niger, West Africa, as a team leader helping to build sustainable housing.

He has been an architectural studio critic at UC Berkeley, SCI-Arc & CCA, and a jury member for the AIA San Francisco Design Awards, the San Francisco Business Times Real Estate Deals of the Year Awards, and the Structural Engineering Association of Northern California (SEAONC) Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards. Jeff also sits on the City of Hope Real Estate Council and the UC Berkeley Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Environmental Design. Previously, he served on the Board of Directors for AIA San Francisco, San Francisco Heritage – the leading historic preservation organization in the San Francisco Bay Area, and the Olympic Club Building Committee.

He is a registered architect in the state of California and a LEED Accredited Professional.
